During pregnancy, a number of body changes occur to the expectant mother, both physiological and hormonal. These changes occur for the purpose of creating an optimal environment for developing the baby and well being for the mother. During pregnancy, most women experience a number of biomechanical and neuromuscular problems which respond well to gentle safe chiropractic treatment. These include:
- Lower back and Pelvic Pain
- Sciatica
- Pubic pain
- Leg pain
- Mid-back and neck pain
- Digestive problems ie heartburn
- Headaches
No pregnant woman should suffer needlessly. Pain during pregnancy is not normal, nor is it something that must be endured.
The Chiropractors at Body & Health Creation are members of the Chiropractors Association of Australia and have done further studies in the areas of pregnancy and paediatrics.

The positive aspects of pregnancy massage are to help maintain posture, reduce any pain and tightness throughout the pregnancy. It also provides nourishment, caring and relaxation throughout pregnancy and helps preparation for childbirth.
Throughout pregnancy a woman may experience the following symptoms: headaches, nausea, fatigue, anxiety and depression. Massage can help reduce pain or dysfunction that a pregnant woman may be feeling. As the centre of gravity moves forward, the lower back muscles must work harder in order to support the spine and the growth of the belly.
During the 1st trimester this is the greatest time for cellular development for the baby. Many pregnant women may feel morning sickness and headaches - massage can help alleviate these symptoms.
During the 2nd and 3rd trimester, a pregnant woman usually has more energy but may find lying flat uncomfortable due to the centre of gravity moving forward as the baby is developing in size. The ligaments in the pelvis soften due to the production of the relaxin hormone. For some women, this creates instability and pain.
It is recommended pregnant women have massages throughout their pregnancy. We are able to tailor the massage to suit the trimester you are in and to alleviate the symptoms you are experiencing. We are also able to suggest the appropriate exercises that will help your body cope with the changes occuring. For your comfort during the massage we also provide a pregnancy pillow for you to lie on.
