Providing a Range of Sports Massage Treatments in North Melbourne

Body and Health Creation provide a range of effective sports massage treatments with the intention of helping athletes improve performance, ability and increase their general health and wellbeing. The highly trained and experienced team at our North Melbourne clinic uses a range of techniques to stimulate various areas of the body that relate to sports performance. Whilst these techniques are an efficient method of enhancing an athlete’s ability to perform and relieve the stress sports and exercise can have on the body, our treatments are also effective for people whose work entails heavy lifting, and for individuals who require massage in general.

Our treatments include remedial, deep tissue, trigger point therapy and Swedish massage, with all methods playing a different part in stimulating the joints, muscles and reduce the effects of stress and anxiety.

We are open everyday of the week, and are available for post-performance massage treatments on Sundays. To book an appointment with one of our trusted massage therapists, simply call us on 1300 234 963.

Why Receive Sports Massage?

There’s more to massage therapy than most people realise…

Regular massage can help you feel and perform better.  It relieves sore muscles & joints, promotes joint health and helps improve your range of motion, as well as providing many more benefits.

While massage can be specific and focused on particular areas to achieve certain goals, massage also has a myriad of general health benefits for its recipients:

  • Promotes general wellbeing
  • Alleviates stress and tension
  • Reduces anxiety, depression and insomnia
  • Improves circulation
  • Reduces chronic pain and headaches
  • Increases joint mobility
  • Promotes better digestion and elimination
  • Increases energy
Our Massage treatments assist the body’s natural healing process by relieving tension and stress and by manipulating muscles getting your blood circulation and lymph moving simultaneously enhancing the production of endorphins that send positive messages to your brain.
  • Remedial Massage: This systematic treatment of the tendons, ligaments, muscles and connective tissues of the body is designed to improve circulation, reduce tension in the muscles, provide stimulation of the lymphatic system and alleviate the tension caused by stress hormones.
  • Deep Tissue Massage: Similar to Swedish massage, but with more of an emphasis on releasing the pain caused by muscle tension, deep tissue massage focused greatly on the deepest layers of tendons, fascia and muscle tissue. Deep tissue massage carries a range of benefits including releasing continual muscle tension, reducing anxiety, reducing spasms as well as reducing the symptoms of arthritis.
  • Trigger Point Therapy: A form of remedial massage therapy, trigger point therapy involves pressure being applied to specified points of muscle tissue in order to alleviate pain throughout the body. As certain sections of muscle tissue directly effect pain caused throughout the body, this can be an effective method of treatment to help reduce pain in those specific areas.
  • Sports Massage: Perfect for athletes regardless of skill or playing level, sports massage focuses on regions of the body overused by the athlete which may be suffering from stress. The massage therapy provided intends to alleviate pain caused by stress on the muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments.
  • Pregnancy Massage: An awesome complement to prenatal care, pregnancy massage helps reduce pain and discomfort for the soon-to-be mother during pregnancy. This treatment is a great option for women suffering from stiff neck, backaches, headaches, edema (swelling) or leg cramps.
  • Swedish/Relaxation Massage: The definitive goal of Swedish Massage is to promote overall health and wellbeing for the body. This is achieved by providing long, deep strokes to the body tissue with the intention of improving blood flow to the heart.
  • Myofascial Release: This is a highly effective method to help reduce pain and stress in the myofascial connective tissue. Our therapist uses the hands to directly seek out tension in the myofascial tissue before applying pressure to help relieve the pain it’s causing.
  • Cupping: An ancient form of medicine, cupping is conducted by applying heated cups to the skin to create suction. The treatment is intended to increase blood flow throughout the body, which in turn helps alleviate pain and stress caused by the muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. Not only this, but it has long been hailed as an effective treatment for anxiety and relaxation.
